Local Government Services List (LGSL)

Description

List of services delivered locally by Public Sector bodies in the UK. LGSL includes the external services subset which defines services provide by Local Authorities under powers or statutory duties to citizens and businesses in England and Wales, and the SSL subset which performs the same role in Scotland.

Purpose

To aid the discovery of Public Sector services and, information and Good Practice.

To provide a common classification of each service to support comparisons of measurements and monitoring.

Development

The esd-toolkit provides a public forum to receive and debate comments and proposals for alterations.

Implementation support is provided via the forum by Porism on behalf of the esd-toolkit, and various practioners and taxonomists.

Owned' by esd-toolkit. Reuse encouraged - available for download without licence or payment.

How Implemented

Produce an Application Profile for each of the 'Customer Journeys' of that the organsiation wishes to support, illustrating where LGSL is to be used, along with other vocabularies, and the mappings that enable information resources to be joined up as a result.

Tag one page for each relevant LGSL entry as the service entry page.

This may then be used to generate an A-Z of services.

Service 'Throughput, Performance, Costing' should be cross referenced to LGSL.

Employ mechanisms to compare this data with other agencies.

Access to Good Practice shared by other agencies and gathered cetnrally about a service.

Opportunity for Local Government to collaborate on describing customer information about services e.g. Eligibilty.

List of services can be generated and linked to customer types, to help a customer find appropriate services.
