How Implemented

esd-toolkit cross-references LGAtL with standard departments (Education, Housing, Fire, etc) in LGDL, which is in turn cross-referenced with services defined by LGSL. Hence, when an organisation (eg a Scottish council, an English District council or a Fire authority) is assigned an LGAtL agency type, its likely structure and services are derived.

LGAtL can be referenced in data sources (eg XML data delivered b councils to Local Directgov) to denote the type of agency.

Benefits

· Identifies the types of agency with whom local authorities might work in partnership to deliver services

· Can be seen as listing the types of agency responsible for delivering services

- Can aid delivery of the right type of information to each agency

- Can identify the type of service information that might be expected from an agency (eg in populating a web portal)
