Fifteen elements, the DCMI Metadata Element Set, have been formally endorsed in the NISO Standard Z39.85-2001 [Z3985] and ISO Standard 15836-2003 [ISO15836]. The extended set is used as the basis for eGMS although eGMS does not fully comply with the abstract model for DC metadata and therefore cannot be considered as a true Application Profile of Dublin Core.
